World Aware Team Purpose

The World Aware Team sets the pace as servant-leaders and facilitators for the members of Wellington Presbyterian Church to grow in regional and world missions involvement.

• The team works with the Pastoral Staff to develop WPC's overall Missions Strategy.
• The team manages WPC's missions budget under the leadership of the Session. This includes:

Arranging support partnerships with missionaries in accordance with our Missions Strategy.

Managing communications with missionaries and the congregation including: holding annual Missions Banquet for WPC with missionary partners, correspondence with missionaries, and regular communication with WPC on our missionary partners.

• The team works with the Pastoral Staff to promote Short-Term Missions personal involvement by WPC members. This includes:

Support Student Missions trips through various means.

Develop adult participation in short-term mission opportunities and on-going regional opportunities.

 Team meets on the first Sunday of each month at 1:30 pm in Room C-14.

The Mission of our World Aware Team:

The World Aware Team exists to keep our membership connected to God's direct command to..."Go into all the world..." Mark 16:15
 
1.    Corollary to this we share and connect in the lives of a few missionaries in our prayer life.  We go with the missionaries by hearing their reports and praying for God's will to be done in their lives and ministries.  
 
2.    We recognize that it is not likely for us to know and understand every tribe, tongue and nation and what God's will is in each of these areas; but, to follow the Holy Spirit's leading Wellington Presbyterian Church supports a few missionaries in prayer for their physical and spiritual needs, so that we may have a connection and a part of a more global view of God's will being done. 
 
3.    The World Aware Team meets regularly to pray for our specified missionaries that represent us, and to pray for other world situations that may be brought to our attention, so that we may embrace and be a part of what God is doing globally.  We do not aim to be exclusive in our global concerns to our represented missionaries, but to give them the first priority in our responsibility and commitment to support them.
 
4.    The World Aware Team seeks ways to keep our members connected and aware of what God is doing globally and specifically with our representative missionaries.   We encourage our elders, deacons and members to visit our specified representatives whenever possible and give support to those that make the visit, so that the goal of physically and spiritually supporting the missionary is accomplished and the awareness of what God is doing globally becomes more real-life to our membership.
 
5.    We believe that by being more intimate and connected with a few missionaries we will be better prepared to pray and help when needs from other missionaries are brought to our attention.   We resist the temptation to be involved in all the many well-qualified world missions that exist that may cause us to be less effective in praying for and involved in the actual disciple-making for Jesus Christ globally with our representative missionaries.
