The Diaconate
Who Are the Deacons and What Do They Do?
"It is the duty of the deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress." (from the Presbyterian Church in America Book Of Church Order 9-2)
The Diaconate is a spiritual office with a very practical purpose... to serve God's church through acts of service and sympathy.
The Diaconate of Wellington Presbyterian Church has strived to accomplish this mission through strength in Christ and the resources provided by Him through the donations and talents of the congregation.
The Diaconate has distributed cash and provided services to the needy to help with rent and/or mortgage payments, child care expenses, house and auto repairs, and a number of other essential living expenses and needs.
In addition to providing assistance with physical needs, the Diaconate also provides for the spiritual needs of the congregation by offering financial counseling, visiting the sick and injured, warmly welcoming the congregation each Sunday, etc.
If you would like more information about what the Diaconate does for the church family or how you can get involved, please see any of the Deacons after the service or give the church a call at 793-1007.
