Steve Hammaker, Worship & Music Team Leader
Steve was born and raised in Pennsylvania and moved to Ft. Lauderdale when he was 14. It was there that he met Jesus through the ministry of Coral Ridge Presbyterian. While involved in their music ministry, he began to develop a deep passion for worship and music in the church, which is for him an on-going pilgrimage.
A conductor, vocalist, and instrumentalist, Steve has a Bachelor of Music in Church Music from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. In each of these programs, he had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of musical forms, from choral/orchestra works (Wichita Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra) to jazz to popular to Broadway. With the same diversity, he has led worship in formal settings (choir, organ, orchestra) and contemporary (rhythm ensemble) for more than 20 years.
He and his wife, Margaret, were married in Ft. Lauderdale in 1987, and have three children — David, Benjamin, and Rachel.
